In a recent post of mine, I talked about my love for band tees and one of the ways I like to style them. You can read this post by clicking here if you haven’t checked it out already. Some band tees can be tricky to style though because they are oversized. There are a few ways to get around this problem of an oversized tee. One of the ways is by tying off the shirt to the size, which is exactly what I recently did.

I purchased this 1975 shirt at their show back in 2013. I cannot believe that show was that long ago! This was the first time I saw them live and probably one of their first few times performing in Philly. Their concert was amazing and I have seen them every time they have come around since. If you have not seen them live I would highly recommend it.

This t-shirt was the smallest size they had, which is a bit oversized on me. Sometimes I like styling an oversized tee with a pair of skinny jeans but I was not feeling it for this look. Instead, I decided to take some of the fabric a tie it off to the size. If you have never done this before, it is super easy to do.

I was able to give this shirt a little more shape by tying it off instead of it being very baggy. I kept the rest of this look black and white except for my sunglasses. I had to add a pop of color and what better way to do that than with a pair of bright blue glasses?! I wore this tied off t-shirt with a pair of capris but it totally works with a pair of jeans too.

Do not shy away from wearing band tees if they are oversized. Tying the tee is just one of the ways you can rock an oversized band tee. A few other suggestions are to wear a shrunken vest or jacket over the tee, tuck the t-shirt into your pants, tuck only the front of the shirt in, or just rock the oversized tee with a pair of skinny jeans. Whatever way you decided to wear your band tee, make it your own and don’t be afraid to rock it!
