Blog-O-Ween Day 4- Apple Picking at Johnson’s Corner Farm

Fall activities for most of us include: decorating, hayrides, haunted houses, pumpkin picking, and apple picking. I usually do all of these activities except last weekend was my first time apple picking! I have no idea why I never went before but it was a lot of fun and the apples were delicious! Today for Blog-O-Ween Day 4, I am going to take you apple picking with me at Johnson’s Corner Farm.

My friends and I went apple picking to celebrate our one friend’s birthday. I am glad we went because we had a great time. We went to Johnson’s Corner Farm in Medford, NJ which is a popular apple and pumpkin picking farm. The weather was perfect the day we went.

Apple Picking

Since Covid is going on, we had to purchased timed tickets in advanced. A ticket bought you a wagon ride to the apple orchards and pumpkin patch. The apple orchards were a good size and there were three types of apples to pick from, Granny Smith, Fuji, and Stayman Winesap.

Even though there were a lot of apples on the ground, we were still able to find good ones on the trees. I ended up with two Granny Smith apples and two Fuji apples. If you have someone tall with you, they might be able to reach some of the apples near the top of the trees. They do not have ladders at Johnson’s Corner Farm for you to climb on.

Pumpkin Picking

After you are done apple picking, you take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. I did not pick any pumpkins but it was fun to walk through the patch and see all of them. You were also able to purchase another ticket to pick sunflowers in the sunflower field.

Once we were done in the pumpkin patch, we took the wagon ride back to the main area where the farm store is located. Johnson’s Corner Farm has an inside market where they sell sandwiches, produce, baked goods, home decor, and more. They also have an ice cream stand and they had a tent with apple cider donuts for sale.

My friends and I hung out at their picnic tables for a while after we were done apple picking. Johnson’s Corner Farm is a great place to hang out at on a fall day even after you are done picking pumpkins or apples.

Unfortunately, as of October 3, 2020, Johnson’s Corner Farm had to suspend their apple picking for the season. They had late spring frost that impacted their apple trees. I am very happy we went before the apple picking was concluded. Hopefully if you are looking to go apple picking this season, there are other farms that are still able to offer it.

Even without the apple picking, Johnson’s Corner Farm is a great place to go. If you have never been there, I definitely recommend checking it out. A lot of their activities require timed tickets, so make sure to reserve ahead of time.
