It is a strange time of the year for weather here. One day it is bright, sunny, and 70 degrees and the next day is it cloudy, rainy, and 38 degrees. It is technically spring and it is the month of April so I’m hoping it starts to stay warm soon! Since the weather here is so up and down it can make picking out an outfit very confusing. Some nights I have an outfit picked out for the next day and then I have to change it because it might be colder out than I thought it was going to be!
However, once that spring weather hits I find that you can never go wrong with a good, fun, bright kimono! A few weeks ago I went to the Express outlet and bought a lot of great stuff for the spring and summer! I haven’t been able to wear much of it yet but I was able to wear this new kimono on Easter!
I was attracted to this kimono from across the store due to the bright colors and funky pattern! I love all the colors on this kimono and the styling possibilities are endless with it! Kimonos are not only great with jeans and capris in the spring, but they are also great with shorts in the summer!
For this look I decided to mix in a different color that is not in the kimono. I wore my purple jeans since the purple matched all the colors in the kimono. Since this kimono has a crazy, awesome pattern all over it I wore a simple white flowing shirt underneath it. I kept my shoes and accessories pretty simple as well.
I have mentioned before that I like pairing long necklaces with long, flowing pieces of clothing, and that is exactly what I did with this look. I wore my long dancing skeleton locket from Betsey Johnson. The colors in the necklace are simple so it does not clash again the outfit, yet the dancing skeleton adds a little something extra to it. I also wore my coral octopus ring to match the coral in the kimono.
I had so much fun wearing this kimono and I cannot wait until it gets warmer out so I can wear it even more! Express has a great selection of kimonos in different colors and patterns. I have also seen kimonos at many other stores such as Macy’s, Forever 21, and Pac-Sun. Since kimonos are very thin and lightweight they will not keep you warm on cold days but they are great to buy now so you can wear them when the weather finally gets warm!
